This is home to the Mashpee Wildlife Refuge with thousands of acres of salt and freshwater marshes, cranberry bogs, cedar swamps, and rivers. The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe settled here approximately 12,000 years ago and continues to be their headquarters.
